– ‘The Magic of Wor(l)ds’ blog is a hobby, reviews and other bookish stuff on this site are done for free. –
Today I’m on the ‘Comatose’ blogtour, organized by Zooloo’s Book Tours.
To promote this book I have an excerpt, but before I let you read it first some ‘basic’ information.
About the Author :
Jane writes novels, short stories and poems, usually with a good dose of humour in them. She’s probably owes it all to her late grandmother who, she’s just found out, also wrote short stories and poems. She tends to get an idea and then run with it whether it be a 100 word short story or an 80 thousand word novel. It all depends on the voices in her head at the time…
…and her nightmare is just beginning.
Two car crashes, one location, one survivor.
Newly promoted DS Karen Thorpe is determined to prove these are no accidents. But the only witness is in a coma.
Now there’s a rapist on the loose.
Karen’s in the fight of her life…and her boss isn’t on her side.
‘… And I get a call from DCI Ed-fucking-Jenkins from SCU wondering what my DS and her Constable are doing handing out cards to funeral-goers like sweeties!’ Karen sat, fused to the back of her chair. ‘I say, well, we’ve got intel on the other crash. A photo. Just seeing how the land lies in case we’re looking at a connection. Possible homicide. And guess what he fucking says, Karen?’
‘Guv…’ Karen began.
‘There is no fucking intel, is there? The lab already eliminated the photo. What the fuck is wrong with you? You don’t go on someone else’s patch without a good fucking reason and without fucking telling them!’
Karen was beginning to cave. ‘And don’t you DARE even think about that!’ he added, pointing his finger straight at her, searching her face for signs of tears. ‘I know you think you’ve got something to prove, especially since… but you’ve got to stop imagining crimes where there aren’t any.’
